PRE-REFERRAL

During the pre-referral process, strategies are discussed, interventions are implemented, and data is collected to assist students in being successful with the educational process. The screening of a student by a teacher or a specialist to determine appropriate instructional strategies for curriculum implementation may be performed without consent. This screening is not considered an evaluation for eligibility for special education and related services according to RI Regulations, 2019 (Section 300.302).
